This hat is made from bulky weight yarns and fully covers the ears with the brim turned either up or down.   It's a dark burgundy red and not at all pinkish as it looks in a couple of the photos.  The image to the far right is the best color likeness.  It's made from mostly Corriedale wool with gray/blue silk accent stripes.  The gray around the top is undyed Jacob wool, and the wide stripe above the brim that looks slightly variegated is raw Romney wool.  Raw wool has more lanolin in it so takes the dye unevenly, which adds interest to the design.
